Measuring Homes for Energy Assessments

With Those Measurements We Calculate

  • the perimeter which equals the sum of the lengths of the walls enclosing the house
  • the area of the floor space which for simple homes equals the length of the front wall times the length from the front to the back of the house
  • the gross wall area which for simple homes is the perimeter times the height of the ceiling
  • the net wall area which is the gross wall area minus the areas of the windows and doors
  • the volume of the conditioned space which is the floor space times the height of the ceiling
